In the context of the European Joint Doctoral Programme “Simulation in multiscale physical and biological systems (STIMULATE)” coordinated by the Cyprus Institute, the University of Ferrara organizes a School on "Fundamentals of Data Science".

The School will take place at the University of Ferrara, Italy, from 4 February 2019 till 15 February 2019 and will cover the following topics:

• Introduction to state-of-the-art software methodologies and technologies to handle, manage and analyze the large amounts of data coming from extensive simulations using innovative algorithms;
• Statistical methods for data-analysis;
• Machine-learning and deep-learning with special focus on neural-networks.

The mathematical principles and the relevant methodologies will be presented in detail, and hands-on training will be provided on the topics covered.
