Oscar Palomino-Hernandez was born in Mexico in 1992, and he received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (Organic Synthesis, with honours) in 2016, and a Master of Science (Cheminformatics, with honours) in 2018 from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). During his studies, he has participated in research visits with Professor Jack Tuszynski at the University of Alberta and Dr. Martin Breugst at the University of Cologne.

His research interests include cheminformatic analysis, machine learning and molecular modelling applied to drug discovery and design. The aim of his research is to understand the physicochemical basis of protein-ligand and nucleic acid-ligand interactions in the context of neurodegenerative diseases.

Oscar has been selected for the position of ESR15 with joint degree awarding institutions the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen (RWTH), The Cyprus Institute (CyI) and Hebrew University (HU). The project entitled “HPC and machine learning studies of biomolecules involved in neurodegeneration” is supervised by Prof. Paolo Carloni, Prof. George Christophides and Prof. Rachel Nechustai.
