Following the successful defense of Dr. Daniele Simeoni in March 2022, six more STIMULATE PhD fellows had successfully defended their thesis in 2022:
Gustavo Ramírez, thesis title “Multilevel Algorithms in lattice QCD for exascale machines” (Bergische Universität Wuppertal, University of Cyprus, Università degli Studi di Ferrara)
Guilherme Goedert, thesis title “Stochastic Modeling of Complex Systems: Applications in Fluid Turbulence and Mathematical Epidemiology” (Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen, The Cyprus Institute, Universita degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata)
Fabio Guglietta, thesis title "Mesoscale Investigations on the Effects of Membrane Viscosity on Transient Red Blood Cell Dynamics" (Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen, The Cyprus Institute, Universita degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata)
Lokahith Agasthya, thesis title “Reconstruction and modulation of turbulent thermal flows using Eulerian and Lagrangian approaches” (Universita degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata, Bergische Universität Wuppertal, The Cyprus Institute)
Floriano Manigrasso, thesis title “Direct calculation of Parton Distribution Functions on the lattice” (University of Cyprus, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Universita degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata)
Oscar Palomino-Hernandez, thesis title “Molecular Simulations of Alpha-synuclein and Comparison with Experimental Data” (Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen, The Cyprus Institute, Hebrew University of Jerusalem)
The PhD fellows used the 6-months project extension to conclude their research and finish their thesis, leading to a successful defense between April - December 2022. All the fellows will receive a joint PhD degree from three institutes.
