Akhil Garg was born in Jaipur and was brought up at Kosli, a small town near Rewari. He completed his engineering in computer science from the Jaypee University of Engineering and Technology, India in 2012. He worked with different companies such as Philips, Radiometer etc. He completed his master in Neuroscience from The Cyprus School of Molecular Medicine (The Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics). His Master thesis was "Computational Biomarker discovery for a range of diseases related to dementia" under Dr. George Spyrou. His area of interest in Computational biology, machine learning, cognitive systems and computational neuroscience. Apart from his studies, Akhil is interested in sports, hiking and he loves travelling and exploring new places.
Akhil has been selected for the position of ESR14 with joint degree awarding institutions Hebrew University (HU), University of Ferrara (UNIFE) and the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen (RWTH). The project entitled "Role of membrane capacitance for signal processing in neurons and neuronal networks" is supervised by Prof. Rachel Nechustai, Prof. Paolo Carloni and Asst. Prof. Fabio Schifano.
